Debugging and Diagnosing problems with the CLI Tool after Jailbreaking your iPhone 4S and iPad 2

I’m sure we all were amazed when we found out that earlier today the  Jailbreak for A5 (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) Devices was released and we can now all free our A5 Devices from the clutches of the Cupertino cage. Unfortunately though all good things come with a price and the price of this jailbreak is bugs.

We all know we waited long enough.

If you haven’t yet head about the jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 then go ahead and head over to the SanjeevRules post over here. From there you’re just a few simple steps away from the bliss freedom of an untethered jailbreak.

From error’s establishing connection to not even being able to run the Absinthe application on Mac Computers, there have been many an issue with this jailbreak. There is good news for those who are having problems with the A5 Jailbreak, as the iPhone Dev Team has released a Command Line Interface (CLI) tool in hopes that it will help people who are having problems with their jailbreak. You can download the CLI tool for OS X here. (No Windows or Linux support yet though) Although as a heads up having some previous command line experience wouldn’t hurt when using this tool.

Some of the 20 options that you have with this tool.

The CLI tool can even execute the full jailbreak process if required, and as mentioned above, with over twenty options to chose from, this is a powerful troubleshooting tool. Also with the download link above you get the ReadMe information, which can also be viewed here, which breaks down the different options that debuggers have and even gives a few examples of things you can do with the CLI tool. Like I said before it’s a great tool but make sure you know the risks involved if you don’t know what you are doing. This tool could cause even more errors than you were looking for if used without proper knowledge.

As with every jailbreak now a days there are a few bugs that didn’t all get ironed out in testing. The same thing happened with the Corona A4 Jailbreak (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad 1) and I’m sure that there will be updates in the future to fix those few bugs along with support for the Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
